These ragged-edged scraps of thin vellum appear to be copied pages of the Screed, a philosophical text popular among the poorer classes within the Tiers. The Screed supposedly vilifies the nobility as rapacious laggards only possessed of their position and influence by dint of circumstance, worse than honest criminals and to be resisted at every opportunity. Only a handful of people could actually read the Screed, most recited it by (approximate) memory from someone else and over the years, dozens of variations of the Screed appeared, each with their own idiosyncratic rants regarding whichever axe the particular author wished to grind.
