Krokus is a character in Bastard's Wound.

Background[ | ]

A flippant and boastful kind of soldier who got kicked out of Lethian's Crossing a while back. Unremarkable, were it not for his involvement in the ambush that claimed the lives of Verse's fellow Furies...

Krokus is a massive man who answers the lookout's cry, his approach marked by a pronounced swagger. Krokus rests a massive axe on one broad shoulder. His hair seems to have migrated largely from his scalp to his chin, and the veins at his temples stand out against his deeply tanned skin.

Krokus claims that he is a changed man and earns an honest living, that the fighting in Apex was the result of an oath he swore. He regrets, or at least claims to regret, the death of Verse's Furies and, once cornered, he begs for mercy on account of the wife he claims to have, pointing towards the nearby tent and bedrolls where a woman, Ptolia, is sleeping.

Upon talking to Diocles in Torn Strand, the Fatebinder can inquire about Krokus. Diocles will mention that Irissa tried to convince him about some "Haven mercenary being good at killing for rings," but that she broke ties with the mercenary when she got word that he was selling his charges into slavery. Over at Essa's, she'll also reveal Krokus's penchant for lying.

(Spoilers) To expose Krokus's duplicity:

  1. kill the guards to the south-east;
  2. check out the cart in the north-east;
  3. ask him about the cart pre-fight;
  4. ask him about sleeping wife (Ptolia) after fight (Lore check)
  5. talk to her (after killing Krokus)

TLDR: he killed the merchant he was guarding, and spared/drugged his daughter. He is an expert lying son of a... and probably successfully baited many players to spare him. I wish I could give him to Nerat.
