A Trial of Archons is a quest in Tyranny.

Synopsis[]

Tunon is displeased with the chaos that emerged from Vendrien's Well, and believes that one of the warring Archons may be principally responsible for the civil war that now grips the Tiers. As you travel the Younger Realms, take note of any evidence of negligence, incompetence, or outright treason found within the Disfavored or Scarlet Chorus.

Walkthrough[]

  • This is the overarching quest covering Act II. The goal is to gather evidence against either of the Archons, which relies on your decisions made during the Conquest and Act I in Vendrien's Well, as well as your actions in Act II.
    • This quest can still be done on an Anarchist run, if Betray Alliance is invoked after Act I.
  • Tunon will request a status update after two territories are claimed for your side. You can present some evidence and provide a preliminary finding, but it is not binding.
    • Should you transit into an Anarchy run (from a Disfavored or Chorus run) before this meeting, you'll gain some Wrath with Tunon.
  • The evidence gathered will be put to use in Final Judgment.
  • Remember that in non-Anarchy paths, you can only gather evidence from three regions in Act II.
  • Logically speaking, you'll want to convict the Archon leading the opposing faction (since you have ways to subdue your faction's Archon).
    • In the Rebel and Anarchist paths, since you can get the Voices to submit via Verse's personal quest, Ashe is the logical target to convict.

Evidence against Voices of Nerat[]

Conquest[]

Vendrien's Well[]

  • The Voices of Nerat consumed Graven Ashe's imprisoned son during the siege of Vendrien's Well.
    • This fact can be uncovered during the final conversation with the Archons in Ashe's tent, before the Archons clash.
    • This piece of evidence requires you to have a higher Favor with Ashe than with Nerat, and is mutually exclusive with the one against Ashe, i.e. Ashe trading prisoners with the Vendrien Guard for lengthy ceasefires.

Blade Grave[]

Lethian's Crossing[]

  • The Voices of Nerat was using Harchiand Bronze to funnel weapons to the Vendrien Guard.
  • Garrick, a Forge-Bound apprentice, sought knowledge within the Oldwalls. The garrison looked the other way.
    • Find Garrick. Only available if you administrated the Crossing during the Conquest and granted it to the Chorus.

Burning Library[]

  • The Censor sought the forbidden knowledge of the Silent Archive.
  • The Censor pit Horde soldiers against one another as part of a sadistic game.
    • Simply talk to the gang leaders.
  • Foul Murmur tortured Disfavored soldiers before the civil war.

Evidence against Graven Ashe[]

Conquest[]

Vendrien's Well[]

  • Graven Ashe traded Disfavored prisoners with the Vendrien Guard in exchange for lengthy cessations of violence. He hoped to retrieve his son, who refused to be released before his fellow soldiers.
    • This fact can be uncovered during the final conversation with the Archons in Ashe's tent, before the Archons clash.
    • This piece of evidence requires you to have a higher Favor with Nerat than with Ashe, and is mutually exclusive with the one against Nerat, i.e. Nerat consuming Brennix.
      • On the Rebel path, you can uncover another hint of this piece of evidence from Tarkis Arri at Vendrien's Well Citadel during The Oathbreakers, before the combined assault of the Disfavored and the Scarlet Chorus begins.
      • As of the final patch, this piece of evidence is bugged in that it will not show up during A Trial of Archons, but can be used in the interim report to Tunon, and in the Archon trial in Final Judgment.
